Annual club check
The board of Täby Seaplane Club has a clear ambition and goal to raise the level of flight safety among all pilots in the club. We would like to encourage members who fly their own seaplane to take the opportunity for a theoretical and practical rehearsal before the season starts. TSK safety manager Christer Leinehed has therefore prepared some material that is presented below. The material is written in English because it is good training in itself which should not pose any difficulties as we have good grades in this language according to the license requirement. The intention is to both raise the theoretical (operational) knowledge and the technical knowledge of the aircraft(s) you intend to fly.
There are also a lot of accident investigations and analyses on the website that are interesting and that give you as a pilot more "meat on your bones". Learning from other people's mistakes and incidents is a lesson in itself. The flight instructor will assume that the questionnaires (operational and technical) are well-worked out and ready in connection with the sea check itself so that the focus can be on the sea flying itself. Before the sea check, the following documents should be read through and answered where necessary. You need Acrobat reader to read the documents.
An overall document that provides the framework for this year's sea check.
HP-50 seaplane companion from the Swedish Transport Agency.
An updated operational questionnaire for 2016 is available as a pdf file but also a similar one that can be taken online. Hopefully it can provide some new knowledge but also refresh old ones. You will probably have to look through some material that you have or that is available on the web to find answers to the questions. A good tip is to read through the parts that apply to private flying VFR that you can find on the Swedish Transport Agency's website. Among others (BCL-D) LFS 2007:20 and LFS 2007:58. All LFS publications are currently available at this address.
Depending on aircraft type, technical questionnaire for Cessna 185 and Cessna 206.
A sea check protocol that will be followed during the actual aircraft check/training.
Supplement to the checklist. Points that, based on experience, are important to check before and during flight.
